Finance Associate

Grand Rapids, MI


The Finance Associate contributes to the overall functioning and successful operation of the Business Office, providing timely, efficient, high-quality accounting support to the Director of Finance as well as families, staff, and vendors. The person is responsible for processing financial transactions and maintaining accounting systems with accuracy and a high degree of confidentiality. The Finance Associate is a key employee who actively engages in NorthPointe Christian’s mission of “Equipping students to impact their world for Jesus Christ.” 

This is a year-round, 40-hour per week position. 


  • Support the School’s Foundational Statements and mission through word and deed.
  • Participate in a minimum of two “mission-building” activities throughout the school year. Examples include but are not limited to: serving as a discipleship group leader, participating in a chapel service, assisting in Elementary School Bible study, leading or participating in a prayer or worship event, sharing a testimony or words of encouragement to a class or group of students, coaching, or assisting a student with a faith-based project.
  • Manage and process Accounts Payable by obtaining proper approvals, processing payments in a timely manner, and maintaining A/P software and systems.
  • Conduct 1099 reporting.
  • Manage the credit card process by maintaining the software, assisting employees with approvals, tracking receipts, and coding transactions.
  • Send invoices to sponsors and customers and communicate status to staff.
  • Manage non-tuition billing and payments by maintaining the software, setting up items, communicating to constituents, and reconciling transactions.
  • Reconcile accounts.
  • Process incoming cash receipts, make deposits, and enter transactions in QuickBooks. Exercise initiative and judgment in planning and organizing work, efficiently accomplishing work assignments, solving problems, and handling confidential matters.


  • Active Christian in agreement and willing to sign the NorthPointe Christian School’s Foundational statements.
  • Able to pass required background checks and fingerprint screening.
  • Accounting/bookkeeping experience preferred.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Google Suite, and various cloud-based software; knowledge of QuickBooks is a plus.
  • Professionally represents the school in interactions with parents, vendors, community, staff, and students. Remain professional in attire and behavior.
  • Ability to maintain the strictest confidentiality.
  • Customer service-oriented.
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized.
  • Possesses time management skills and the ability to prioritize work.
  • High school diploma required; Bachelor’s degree preferred

The work environment is a standard office setting. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to slightly moderate.
