NorthPointe Christian Schools is an independent Christian school formed in 1972 serving over 1,200 preschool through high school students from over 120 churches. POSITION HIGHLIGHTS

  • NorthPointe Christian Schools is hiring a 9th Grade Boys Basketball Coach.
  • The coach works under the direction of the Varsity Basketball Coach.
  • Season begins November 2024.

RESPONSIBILITES include but are not limited to: 

  • Assist with the general athletic and spiritual development of athletes.
  • Introduce and continue to develop game specific skills, preparing athletes for varsity level.
  • Teach aspects of working as a team and the Christian character expected of NorthPointe Christian athletes.
  • Stay current on the state of game being coached and know the rules of the game set forth by the NFHS and MHSAA.
  • Recruiting - helping to recruit players from within the school and encourage them to participate.
  • Evaluation - meet with varsity coach, during and after the season. 
  • Camps/Clinics - Help varsity coach as needed or asked.
  • Equipment/Uniforms - maintain and properly care for all equipment and store it properly. Distribute and collect all level appropriate uniforms.
  • Roster - Maintain an accurate player roster and share it with the athletic department.
  • Spiritual Mentoring - Provide Spiritual growth and mentoring to all athletes on your own as well as in cooperation with the varsity coach.
  • Communication- maintain regular, weekly communication as outlined in the Coaches Handbook. 
  • Reporting- Coaches are required to report all suspected or known instances which directly affect the health, safety or well-being of our students.
  • Hold a pre-season meeting with players and parents and share written rules/expectations, game schedule, and practice schedule.
  • Maintain inventory of equipment, uniforms, etc. 
  • Attend scheduled games and practices. Stay until all team members are gone and make sure doors are not propped open and the building is secure.
  • Report injuries.
  • Provide post-season awards to athletes.
