NorthPointe Christian Schools is an independent Christian school formed in 1972 serving over 1,300 preschool through high school students from over 120 churches. POSITION SUMMARY

The goal of the Middle School ESS Paraprofessional is to support students in the general education setting by providing the necessary academic, social, emotional, and/or physical needs. Provide and document accommodation services in accordance with ISP and 504 plans in alignment with stated goals in the student plans.

This position is a key employee who actively engages in NorthPointe Christian’s mission of “Equipping students to impact their world for Jesus Christ.”

We are currently looking for a person to fill a full time position for the 2025-2026 school year, but will consider hiring individuals who are looking to work part time as well

RESPONSIBILITIES inlclude but are not liminted to:

• Support the School’s Foundational Statements and mission through word and deed.
• Integrate Biblical principles and Scripture into daily activities.
• The paraprofessional will report directly to the ESS Coordinator and will work together with the ESS team, parents, general education teachers and principals for delegated responsibilities.
• Promote and demonstrate a growth mindset in believing that each student has the potential to succeed.
• Working with the special education coordinator to support both student and general education teacher to ensure accommodations/modifications and behavior management plans are implemented and needs are being met.
• Being a team player by following the direction of the coordinator and collaborating with general education teachers to provide classroom support and pull out intervention as needed.
• Provide direct instruction to students.
• Attend to student physical needs, such as bathroom assistance.
• Train and engage peers to provide support and friendship.
• Assisting with NPC record keeping and filing including parent communication needs, if necessary.

 QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

• Active Christian in agreement with and willing to sign the NorthPointe Christian School’s Foundational statements and be committed to Jesus Christ.
• At least 30 hours of college credits are preferred. Experience working with or mentoring teens would also be helpful.
• Compassionate, flexible, dependable, strong communication skills, positive, friendly, discerning, and collaborative. 
• Punctuality is important for specific student needs. 
• Most of all, candidates must desire to be a part of the lives of children.

• Physically able to:
  • Frequently stand and sit for extended periods of time.
  • Frequently use manual dexterity and/or mobility to grasp and/or manipulate objects, operate equipment, and move around the classroom.
  • On occasion, engage with students while kneeling, squatting, stooping, or bending 50-70 degrees at the waist.
  • Perform daily repetitive movement of fingers and hands when writing and typing.
  • Read printed and electronic material daily. See with clarity objects using close, distant, and peripheral vision.
  • Sufficiently hear conversations in person and distinguish sounds clearly up to 20 feet.
• Must be able to maintain continuous safety of the students and respond quickly and appropriately to any threat toward their well-being.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work environment is a standard classroom, office, or gathering space. The noise level in the work environment is typically low to moderate, but occasionally high depending upon student population and activities.
